about the artist...
Helena Forde (Scott) born in Sydney in 1832 was an Australian illustrator of natural history and a botanical collector. Along with her sister Harriet, she made a huge contribution to colonial natural science by collecting specimens and working as professional artist producing her beautiful and painstakingly accurate illustrations.
