A winter wonderland nursery doesn't have to be stark, keep bubba cozy and sung in a snow themed nursery decorated with friendly winter animals and mountain peeks. With a colour palette of blues and turquoise, crisp white and soft greys. A fluffy white rug on the floor and scattering of stars.
While Pantone have picked yellow and grey, Etsy's selection for colour of the year is Sky blue. "After such a tumultuous year, shoppers are looking forward to bluer skies ahead," wrote Dayna Isom Johnson, Etsy's Trend Expert. "Hope is on the horizon and there is a renewed sense of gratitude and connection to our communities." A beautiful shade to use in the nursery or a kids bedroom, girl or boy, there's a lot to love about sky blue trending.
Pantone has picked their 2021 Colour of the Year and have again chosen two: Ultimate Grey and Illuminating yellow. Soft greys have always been a popular choice for a gender-neutral nursery, add in the pop of yellow for fun and you're on trend for next year! It's a colour combination that works particularly well for an Aussie themed nursery with the yellow of wattle or a sulphur-crested cockatoo and the grey of out cute furry animals.

Are we alone? Be inspired by an other-worldly trend we're seeing more of lately - flying saucers.

Delicious looking UFO cupcakes by Donna Hay. The recipe is no longer available but you can use this very similar step by step on Sweetest Kitchen. I was a little surprised to see the platypus come out as the worlds weirdest animal, maybe because I'm so used to sketching them and seeing them at our local wildlife park. But, when the platypus was first sent back to England from Australia they thought it was a joke and someone had sewn a duck bill onto a rat!
Here's a little video the kids might love - 21 World's Weirdest Animals. |
